Guidelines for Human Visitors

Human visitors to Grandmothers Hills are welcome and expected to walk with respect for the land and the life forms that make this place their home. We request you follow these guidelines:

  • Please use the pedestrian gate entrance to the land and close it behind you.
  • The lichen on rocks has been there for hundreds of years, please do not disturb this ancient life form. No climbing on rocks.
  • No pets please.
  • You are responsible to carry your own drinking water.
  • You are responsible to carry you own toilet paper in and out.
  • Please carry a plastic bag with you and pick up and carry out debris you create or may have found.
  • There are no toilets on the land. Please use environmentally friendly toileting practices: Pee and poop in an out of the way place, cover your waste with loose dirt or dead leaves and carry your soiled toilet paper out with you.
  • Leave the land in better shape than you found it.
  • Open fires at the Buffalo Rock Fire Circle only.
  • Completely extinguish all fires with water before leaving the land.
  • Please use only deadfall trees for firewood.
